Joseph Tan is a resilience practitioner, leadership facilitator and coach based in Malaysia, and a Certified Consultant with The Resilience Institute. He works with organisations across Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region, with particular depth in energy, utilities, manufacturing and financial services. These are environments where sustained pressure is part of the work, not an occasional disruption. Joseph approaches resilience as something built in individuals but either protected or eroded by the system around them. "Resilience is not the absence of pressure. It is what you do in the seconds between the points."
LinkedIn Profile →Since 2017, Joseph has led learning and development at Fish Camp Learning. He designs and facilitates programmes for organisations across Malaysia and ASEAN, including PETRONAS, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, PRefChem, Securities Commission Malaysia, Alliance Bank, Exxon Mobil, BASF, Sime Darby, Adidas, RHB Bank, KWSP and Standard Chartered. His facilitation is energetic and experiential. A competitive tennis player, Joseph draws on the sport to teach recovery. The decisive skill is rarely what happens during the point. It is what a person does in the twenty seconds between points. He brings the same attention to rhythm, recovery and sustainable load into his work with leaders.
Joseph came to corporate development through counselling, not training. He began his career in career counselling and student employment services in the United States. He later spent four years at Accenture in talent management and workforce planning across ASEAN. There he saw the organisational side of resilience: how resourcing decisions, restructuring and workload design shape whether people recover or deteriorate. That mix of counselling grounding and operational exposure shapes his work today. He looks at the individual and the system together.
